Hluboka nad Vltavou is not only the castle. In the immediate vicinity there are countless other sights that you should not miss.

Hunting Lodge Ohrada

The Hunting lodge Ohrada, one of the few buildings of pure style in South Bohemia, is situated near the chateau of Hluboká. The lodge was built in the years 1708 1713 according to the design by the architect P. I. Bayer, for Prince of Schwarzenberg as a hunting lodge for holding hunts and pompous hunting celebrations.

Vondrov Estate

The Vondrov Estate is found in the picturesque area near the hunting lodge Ohrada. The original estate, which was founded here as early as 1550 by Ondřej Ungnad of Sunek, was named Ondřejovský, later Vondrov. In 1895 Adolf Josef of Schwarzenberg had the estate repaired.

Knížecí dvůr – Prince’s Estate

In 1846 a two-story stone building according the design by the architect Franz Beer, adorned with sober classicist elements, was completed on the way leading towards the chateau of Hluboká, in the place of the original Podhradský estate. It served to the purposes of the office of the Schwarzenberg Princely Estate for almost a century. The name Knížecí dvůr came in use after a recent reconstruction of the building, which includes a gallery and a clinic of traditional Chinese medicine.

Church of St. John of Nepomuk

The Church of St. John of Nepomuk was designed according to the designs by the architect Franz Beer. Its construction started in 1844 and three years later, in 1847, it was consecrated by the Cardinal Friedrich of Schwarzenberg himself. The church was built in the pseudo-gothic style, rectangular with the transept and its tower rises to the height of 56 metres.

Museum of Historical Vehicles

Museum of classic cars and old agricultural equipment located in private areas of the municipality cuts. In this museum is to watch the trucks and cars , horse carriages, buggies , sleighs , motorcycles , bicycles, old farm equipment , tools, rustic room , model trains , cars and airplanes. All of this can be seen on the 1800 square meters of exhibition space in a three - storey building. One of the exhibits is also the coach of the fairy tale film The Princess from the Mill.

Glassworks

The glassworks Deep is a common small glass factory with the production of common goods glass. What is different is that it seeks to promote young artists in their work and glassworks is open to all candidates who want to even look and see what is involved in glass craft. On your inquisitive happy to answer questions and if you want you can also try out how to work with a whistle. In addition, of course, there can be seen as making the usual assortment of glasses , vases , paperweights and various decorative objects.

Destilery Poněšice

Family Poněšice distillery was founded in 2002. Its construction in the economic part of the South Bohemian building in the picturesque village Poněšice (near Hluboka ) Family Poněšice distillery has everything needed to produce high-quality distillate. The entire production process (from fruit after receiving the final product ) is due to the huge enthusiasm for the technique and precision distillery owner Poněšice fully mechanized . Kolorit distillery on the other hand, illustrates the indispensability of the human hand - each bottle, which emerges from the distillery Poněšice is manually labeling, stamping and then finally purged.

Jewish cemetery

It was built sometime in the mid-18th century and to maintain there are many notable Baroque and Classicist tombstones, the oldest of which dates back to 1750. The cemetery originally lay on the edge of the pond and Munický had roughly half the area. Only in the second half of the 19th century, the treatment pond shore, and also to a considerable expansion of the cemetery grounds east.

Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk – back path towards the chateau in front of the bridge across the Vltava River.

Sights – Surroundings

The Region of South Bohemia belongs to regions with the highest number of sights. The families of the Lords of Rožmberk, Schwarzenberg and other famous families left an immense heritage here, the beauty of which cultivates the picturesque countryside of South Bohemia. Thirteen most important places of interest are run by the state. They include renowned castles and chateaux in Český Krumlov, Jindřichův Hradec and in other places that rank among the most popular places for trips. Hundreds of others are managed by municipalities and private owners. The vast majority of them are open to the public.
